Accessible Tourism 2026 — TOO Competence Academy

Rodzina z osobą na wózku — turystyka dostępna dla wszystkich

From the venue to the experience — accessibility as a standard of quality and service, even without rebuilding your premises. The TOO Competence Academy is a series of free one-day conferences (9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.) for staff of travel agencies, hotels, tourist attractions, carriers and event organizers.

Why it matters

Society is ageing, the number of people with temporary and permanent limitations is growing, and their purchasing power is rising. In Poland, around 4 million people hold a disability certificate (Statistics Poland, GUS, end of 2023), and estimates that include people without a certificate range from 4.7 to 7.7 million. Since 2019, the Act on Ensuring Accessibility for People with Special Needs has been in force, covering architectural, digital and information and communication accessibility. Companies that know how to serve this group well gain an advantage and loyal customers.

What you will learn

  • How to serve customers with various types of disability, as well as seniors and people with temporary limitations.
  • Professional and respectful communication: how to talk, how to help and what to avoid.
  • Practical assistance for wheelchair users, blind and partially sighted people, and Deaf and hard-of-hearing people.
  • How to avoid the most common mistakes: facts, limitations and alternatives instead of a promise of "full accessibility".
  • Solutions you can implement right away, including low-cost ones that require no rebuilding of premises.
  • How to prepare a working change plan for your own organization.

Trainers with disabilities also lead the sessions

The conferences are led or co-led by people who face barriers in tourism services every day: Beata Nawrat, Julita Kuczkowska, Dominika Lewicka-Klucznik and Dr Karol Kostrzewa. Participants hear real experiences, practise with equipment (wheelchairs, goggles, simulators, canes and blindfolds) and learn what professional assistance should look like.
